WEIGHT
Sáb Set 15, 2018 5:31 pm
Gorilla, the largest existing primate, where males in nature weigh from 140 to 190 kg and measure between 1.40 and 1.80 in height.
They live in Central Africa, separated by the Congo River and its tributaries the species of Western and Eastern Gorillas:
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Leopard, one of the big cats (for roaring), where males in the wild weigh from 31 kg up to 60 kg usually, can reach 90 kg, measuring between 1.60 and 2.6 meters (70-90 is the tail):
They are widely distributed in Africa and Eurasia, but in some regions they are critically endangered, as are the Gorillas:
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
In this type of combat, regardless of the size of the animals the Gorilla has this item of weight as an advantage to be considered, since he could use this item with the help of force. So - Point to Gorilla here.

THE SITUATION OF THE FAIR AND REALISTIC COMBAT
Sáb Set 15, 2018 5:36 pm
In order to get a fair view of the fight, let's imagine the following:
To represent the species and a possible real encounter:
As we saw in the Map of species distribution, see a country where there is a theoretical overlap of the two in full:
GABON!!
A large Male Gorilla of Silver Coasts of the Gabon Plains, weighing more than 190 kg, heavier than average in nature;
1.77 meters + length or.
Leopard of Gabon, a large and healthy male resembling this robust specimen that has already been photographed in Gabon, at least 80 kg !!
Photo Fountain -The status of the leopard in Gabon and The status of the leopard in Gabon and lessons learned for leopard research and lessons learned for leopard research and management in W/C Africa: http://leofoundation.org/wp-content/uploads/2017/01/LCI_workshop-2010_presentation-Leopards.pdf
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The situation is very simple, by day, amidst the dense forest of Gabon, between a lot of vegetation and a few trees, there is the Leopard, hidden, preparing a playwright for a gorilla, which is near, but it is on the border between the vegetation dense and the plain, where is the family of Gorillas:
The immense Leopard is hungry, he casts himself unashamedly to the puppy, but at that moment the dominant Silverback Gorilla arrives to defend the family, all the other Gorillas flee and he stays to try to scare the Leopard, with shouts, ground and offensive posture;
The Gorilla enters this border among the wild environments, with a flat ground, but with trees around, the Leopard, due to its intense hunger does not retreat, and there begins a deadly confrontation with the two animals seeing:
And now???

BITE FORCE
Sáb Set 15, 2018 5:38 pm
Well, in order to answer this question, it is necessary to enumerate advantages and disadvantages before, Weight has already been mentioned, but there are others:
In the brute force of the bite itself, the Gorilla will tend to take advantage.
They have jaws primarily adapted to chewing hard plants such as bamboo, which gave them strong neck and jaw muscles capable of giving an estimated bite of 1,000 and 1,400 pounds per square inch (PSI), in contrast to bite force of the leopard that is estimated at 470 PSI.

DENTITION
Sáb Set 15, 2018 5:41 pm
However, there is another item, different from the force of the bite, the tooth shapes and their relevance in combat:
Compare:
GoriLla
Leopard
It does not take much effort to notice that the Leopard has sharper teeth overall and especially longer canines, the Leopard bite is designed to more easily penetrate the prey's flesh with the canines and other teeth with sharp functions, while the Gorilla bite, as seen earlier has more strength, but is designed for crushing, but also has canines for defense.
In combat, Leopard dentition is more advantageous because of its sharpness and especially the more developed canines, so Leopard has an advantage.

INTELLIGENCE
Sáb Set 15, 2018 5:43 pm
This item does not have much to discuss, although the intelligence can be evaluated from several points of view that can vary according to the anatomy of each animal, it is fact that the Gorilla has more intelligence than the Leopard.
The felines have the cleverness to prey and even learn some tricks when captive, but in terms of intelligence, using tools is among the most relevant items, something that Gorillas are able to do, and if that is not enough, had a Gorilla capable of even learn some sign languages, and it's not a movie thing:
So for combat this may be relevant, starting from the point of view of one of the reports where the Gorilla used a stick or stick to face the Leopard. While this item may be variable in a natural combat scenario, it can not be discarded. Then, In This Item, point to the Gorilla.

CLAWS X HANDS
Sáb Set 15, 2018 5:46 pm
Another issue is the differences of the Leopard claws compared to the hands of the Gorilla.
Gorillas' hands really can do damage to grab, use tool like stick to use or throw or to punch, as we can see in a fight:
But in terms of damage, having retractable claws to sharp curves is more advantageous. The Leopard uses its claws primarily for climbing functions in Trees and to grab its prey, as we can see:
You can also use the hind legs with the claws to cause great damage if you are underneath in the combat, in apparent disadvantage, we can notice at the beginning of this video for example, the Leopard that was in the background manages to get rid of the bite attack of the other, using the hind paws with the claws to strike:
Finally, kicking with the front paws is something that in theory could use, they do not use it only in fights between felines, also use with other purposes, like killing a Python, for example:
----------------------------------------------------------------------------
Conclusion:
Although the Gorillas' rough hands are dangerous, the Leopard's four-legged claws have more potential for damage and are more likely to be used without relying on external elements such as tools (which the Gorilla could use) that may or may not be in the natural combat. So, Leopard has an advantage in this respect.

BRUTE FORCE
Sáb Set 15, 2018 5:54 pm
This item is controversial, it really lacks specific studies of these two animals in that regard.
GORILLA
What exists is an exaggeration of the strength of the Gorillas, with mentions in documentaries where comparatively (if it were possible) they could do a weightlifting as a competitor, they could erect about one car at each end, about two Tons.
There is no scientific study showing anything like this. But only by making a quick comparison, we will remember that one of the few animals capable of knocking down a car is the strongest land animal there is, the Elephant that weighs tons. It's another Force Porch that has no comparison, do you imagine a Gorilla doing that?
I do not want to detract from the strength of the Gorilla, evidently it is much stronger than a human being (as a comparative basis), it is capable of breaking hard branches, plucking some trunks up, we can see two examples of its strength with it by twisting a glass of Zo and also breaking a piece of hard twig off the floor (although he also uses the bite in the process):
However, his strength estimates from the cited example with tons are overestimated. There are a lot of estimates out there, not a scientist.
Now if we take as an example a smaller primate, but also stronger than a human, the Chimpanzee, we have two studies that contradict each other in relation to this, including:
John Bauman's Ancient Studies through Dynamometer Traction revealed the estimated strength of 3 to 5 men for the Chimpanzee (Medium, 4 men).
However, more recent studies have revealed that these data may be overestimated:
A new study on the power of chimpanzees has challenged a century of assumptions about super-strength, finding that their muscular performance is actually about 1.5 times greater than ours.
the team isolated muscle fibers and tested their overall strength and speed as they contracted.

http://www.slate.com/articles/health_and_science/science/2009/02/how_strong_is_a_chimpanzee.html
As we can see, even in the Chimpanzee, that we have studies about force there are differences, one for more, another more recent for much less than was believed.
With the Gorilla, such studies would have to be done in order to be sure, but by weighing everything posted here, I would risk estimating a maximum (for less) of 10 men.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
LEOPARD
Well, again we lack a more specific study of his strength as well, however, we have some means of trying to unravel:
The first indicative of force, a Leopard is able to hoist a tree so heavy (or even more) than itself:
Second, it is capable of killing, according to literature, from tiny animals through a range of dangerous animals (including it is the animal that varies more prey species in intraguild predations - predation on other predators) to animals as large how much an adult Elande:
In Third, a non-scientific Leopard data, however, we have a Record of a Bengal Tiger that was able to drag a carcass of Gauro, where it was necessary about 14 men to be able to execute the same movement:
"The tiger dragged a dead bull (Gaur) 13.5 meters. The bull can not be moved by 13 men.
Source: Page 178
Mammals of the Soviet Union, Volume 2 Part 2 Carnivora (Hyenas and Cats)
or
Amazing Tigers: Informational book about tigers
Evidently the Tiger also being generally the largest (subspecies Bengal and Siberian) is the feline with more brute force, however on a scale thus estimated (given unscientific), had already been mentioned an estimate like this:
Tiger - 14 Men of Strength
Lion - 10 and 12 Force Men
Jaguar - 10 Men of Strength
Leopard and Cougar - Between 7 and 8 Men of Strength
Although not given scientific, based on the feat of the Tiger, I think it deserves to figure here.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
CONCLUSION - Among so many estimates, I believe the Gorilla is stronger than a Leopard, yes, but not with an absurd advantage as many believe.

AGILITY / SPEED
Sáb Set 15, 2018 5:56 pm
This item is not much to discuss. Even a feline larger than the Leopard would have more agility than a Gorilla. This is characteristic of felines, great agility and sharp reflexes, has this advantage in combat. Brief example:
SKIN - VULNERABILITY
Sáb Set 15, 2018 6:00 pm
As we can see, the freight can be a much more balanced duel than you would imagine.
There are more items that can be compared to be able to "Unpack" this issue:
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
FELID SKIN
Skin, the skin of the felines in comparison with Primates, is more resistant, I did not find a specific study on the skin of the wild felines, however, we can take a practical example by this video of Snow Leopard, at the end even suffering attacks shows resistance of skin:
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
GORILLA SKIN (PRIMATES)
"All primates have dermatoglyphics on their friction surfaces; they are also present on the volar surface of the tail of some New World monkeys and on the pillows of chimpanzees and gorillas. The epidermis is uniformly thin and scarce.”

In fact, this item may weigh in favor of the Leopard, who in addition to the bite still has sharp claws capable of inflicting serious injuries, say that was the case below:

TECHNIQUES 1 - LEOPARD IS ABLE TO PREDY (KILL AND EAT) GORILLAS?
Sáb Set 15, 2018 6:10 pm
This is an item that may have extra weight in this combat.
Although the Gorilla is dangerous for body strength, bite, precision to attack or defend can be a differential in this combat. And in this respect, the Leopard, because it is a predator of several species of animals, tends to present attacks with greater "surgical precision", that is, it has greater habit and ability to kill, because its diet consists of this.
We should rather list the question of Predation as an addition to the item Precision, answering the question: IS LEOPARD ABLE TO PREDY (KILL AND EAT) GORILLAS?
YES !
He is...
Of course, like most predators, the Leopard will prefer to risk less and will attack more puppies, young and females, but there are cases of predation in adult male Gorillas yes.
Do not cling to the documentaries of Computerized Entertainment, here we are debating on what in fact, in fact it has already been documented !!
Do not worry that I am leaving these cases and all the others documented that I will quote available in a free link in the description of the video, both in Portuguese and in English, for those who want to delve deeper (hummmm), check it out.
Obs: We must remember that Predation is different from a fair Situation of Combat Face to Face, which is how I am considering for this video, because:
Predation can occur in a sneak attack from behind;
And / or also occur for example occur at night where the Leopard would have a vision 6 times more developed.

To add up, the Leopard is the predator most prostrate primates, he usually does so in two ways:
The first is with a fatal bite on the back of the neck or nape of the tusk, often piercing and breaking the spinal cord:
The second form is biting the neck / throat, puncturing / crushing / blocking the trachea by killing the prey by suffocation, or by cutting the jugular vein or the common carotid artery:
Against a Gorilla this would be a much bigger challenge, but not impossible, as the records show, however, in theory the Leopard has more features and precision in the attacks, and therefore holds this item to advantage.

{1976} There have been reports of leopards killing adult gorillas:

{1960–1961} A leopard killed two or three adult male gorillas in the mountains of Virunga in six months:

RIGHT, AND FRONT TOWARD ??

As we saw earlier, the Leopard has the ability to even prey on an adult male Gorilla, and this validates the possibility of mourning:

Black Panther kills a huge gorilla in a fight ...
This is more news, so it is more the criterion of curiosity:

There is another example of a leopard and a gorilla fighting in the forest. The leopard did not kill the gorilla, but I think it's worth mentioning.
In 1988, Bai Hokou's study area reported a fight between a gorilla and a leopard that occurred during the day at 5 pm. They speculated a violent fight between a leopard and a gorilla based on disturbed vegetation and leopard claw marks on tree trunks.
The gorilla appeared to have assumed a bipedal posture during the attack and fought actively against the leopard. A piece of broken stick with blood at the end found the spot evidence that the gorilla picked up a stick and hit or stabbed the leopard with it. Footprints revealed that this was a big gorilla, probably a male.
After a heated fight in which both animals dispersed, a leopard's footprints were found superimposed on the footprints of a large gorilla, indicating that either of the two animals frightened the other:

And finally:
In 2011, George Schaller, a wildlife biologist who worked for National Geographic, reported that he had found a large male Leopard and a dominant silverback Gorilla, both dead in their study "Making a Last Counterattack and boldness ".
He had determined that a fight had taken place in the forest between the two, and both had died of mutually inflicted wounds:

ABSTRACT
As we have seen, we have a slight theoretical favoritism for the Leoardo, even if in practice it is a very dangerous combat for both animals, which was confirmed in the reports, when it happened face to face.
Still, in addition to this slight theoretical advantage, now attributing my humble opinion, the item "TECHNIQUES" has a slightly more relevant weight than the others, which favors the Leopard. It is added to the fact that the Leopard specimen analyzed is physically differentiated from the patterns, even for a large male, this one is so apparently strong that it resembles even the anatomy of a Jaguar / Ounce Painted, even though the Gorilla is also a large specimen .
For all this, I would give a theoretical favoritism of 55% chance for Leopard versus 45% Gorilla (Considering both large)..
